He tried to force a mandatory tip on my group when the bill already charged us for service. His excuse was that the hotel kept the service charge and tip was separate. Service charge is tip. He was very unprofessional, rude and I’ll never visit this establishment again. Americans watch out, don’t get hustled. When they charge you a “service” charge that’s the tip! After this review I’ll submit a complaint with PROFECO for the emphasized forced tip.

Our first time staying at this facility and couldn’t been happier. The room was fantastic with a huge balcony and great comfortable bed and bathroom was perfect with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff were helpful and very informative. The grounds are immaculate and the location couldn’t been better. There is a Starbucks on property which was great first thing in the morning or just relaxing by the pool. Planning your trip to Aguascalientes
When to go
The climate is one of Aguascalientes' genuine selling points: dry most of the year, sunny, at 1,880 metres. From March to June afternoons get properly warm, low thirties, though the shade stays cool. July to September brings afternoon rain — short bursts that wash the air and green the sierra.
The rounded months are October and November, then February and March: clear skies, mild days, a calm city. Winter has a catch — December and January mornings hover near freezing and not every downtown hotel has real heating. Ask before you book if those are your dates.
The Feria Nacional de San Marcos overrides everything else: about three weeks from late April to mid-May, with millions of visitors. Rates multiply, the centre becomes one continuous party and not a room is left. Either you book months ahead and swallow the price, or you shift your dates.
The Festival de las Calaveras, around Day of the Dead, is the second peak and a far more manageable one: prices lift a little, the centre fills, the city keeps functioning. The rest of the year follows a business-city pattern — busy midweek, softer rates at weekends.
Getting there and around
The airport sits south, 25-35 minutes from the centre depending on traffic, with a taxi in the order of MX$300-450 at 2025 prices. It is small, with domestic flights and a few US routes, and there is no convenient public transport: plan on a taxi or an app in both directions.
By road everything is close: roughly 2 hours to León and Zacatecas, two and a half to San Luis Potosí, three and a half to Guadalajara and around 6 to Mexico City by bus. The bus terminal sits on Avenida Convención, some 10 minutes from the centre.
The centre walks end to end: it is barely more than a kilometre of flat streets from the Plaza de la Patria to the Jardín de San Marcos. City buses cost about MX$10-12 and cover the long corridors; ride-hailing apps work well, with cross-town trips in the order of MX$50-100.
For the vineyards, Calvillo, Real de Asientos or the Cristo Roto at San José de Gracia, a car earns its keep: public transport exists but eats your morning. Avenida López Mateos and the ring roads clog at rush hour, and during the fair a car turns from asset into liability.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The Centro holds everything walkable: Plaza de la Patria, the cathedral, the Palacio de Gobierno with its murals, the San Marcos quarter with its garden and church, and the quieter Barrio del Encino with the Posada museum around the corner. Sleep here and you will not need a car at all.
The northern corridors — the mall zone around Galerías and Altaria, Avenida Aguascalientes, the road out to Zacatecas — hold the executive chains: parking, breakfast included, predictable beds and zero atmosphere. They make sense for work at the industrial parks, or if you arrive driving and want easy in-and-out.

Eating and going out
The cooking here is inland and unfussy: baked gorditas de horno, birria, Sunday menudo, carnitas and mid-morning tacos. The Juárez and Terán markets sort breakfast for about MX$60-120 at 2025 prices, and a downtown set lunch runs somewhere around MX$100-150. Portions are generous, prices honest.
Aguascalientes has also been wine country for centuries: several wineries 30-45 minutes out take visitors by appointment, and some run harvest events in July and August. Confirm dates and book, because these are not walk-in operations. On the sweet side, guava from Calvillo and its fruit paste fill every market.
An ordinary night is quiet: terraces around the Jardín de San Marcos, cafés and bars in the Barrio de la Estación, cinemas and plazas up north. Midweek the city shuts early. Walking the centre after dark is unremarkable, with the usual caution about empty streets past midnight.
During the fair the scale changes entirely: palenques, bullfights at the Monumental, concerts and a crowd that does not let up for three weeks. It is genuinely fun and genuinely saturated — queues, high prices, a lot of drinking. If you want the serene city of the other eleven months, those dates will not give it to you.

If nothing sensible turns up, sleeping in Zacatecas or León and coming in for the day works, though roads and buses run heavy in the small hours.
Details that actually change the night: real heating in December and January, decent glazing if the room faces an avenue or the garden at weekends, parking included if you are driving, and whether the pool runs in winter — several close. In the centre, ask about the cathedral bells too.
