The hotel was great. Would definitely stay here again. It was comfortable, cute, and the staff were great. We stayed a couple nights while visiting Cuernavaca and it was perfect for my husband and I. The wifi in the rooms is poor, and sometimes hit and miss outside the rooms even, but that wasn't a big deal for us. It was beautiful outside so when I needed better wifi I went to one of the two courtyards.
Very nice place and excellent location, but my room smelled too much to a cheap fragance that maybe is used to give the scent of freshness but it ends up being annoying and all your stuff will get that same odor even after leaving the place. The rooms are not noise isolated, so you can ear very clearly ALL what the other guests are doing and that can get quite uncomfortable.
Planning your trip to Cuernavaca
When to go
The "eternal spring" label is half true. At 1,500 metres the city sits at 25-30°C most afternoons and cools enough at night to justify a sweater. November to February is its best version: clean skies, fresh mornings, gardens comfortable at any hour. It is also when weekend arrivals from the capital are heaviest and rooms tighten first.
March to May brings dry heat: afternoons of 30-33°C, dusty air and, some years, haze from agricultural burning that hides the volcanoes. This is the stretch when a pool stops being a photo on the listing and becomes the reason you chose the hotel at all. Jacaranda and bougainvillea in full colour go some way to compensating.
June to October it rains almost daily, but on a schedule: sunny mornings, then a hard storm between four and seven. The city turns green, the ravines run and the Salto de San Antón waterfall looks the way it should. Midweek this is the best value of the year — bring a rain jacket and avoid scheduling drives during the afternoon downpour.
Mark the dates that lift prices: Holy Week, every long weekend, 1-2 November — Ocotepec, on the city's northern edge, is known for its Day of the Dead altars — and the last fortnight of December. With so few hotels in town, Cuernavaca fills earlier than bigger cities on exactly those dates.
Getting there and around
From Mexico City the 95D toll road is the obvious route: about 85 km, an hour and a quarter in normal traffic, tolls in the order of MX$150 each way. The free road is slower and winding, and not a night-time plan. Sunday afternoon northbound is reliably jammed, so either leave early or eat dinner in Cuernavaca and drive late.
Buses depart Taxqueña every 15 to 20 minutes for something like MX$200, and direct coaches run from Mexico City airport — pricier, but worth it after a flight. Terminals are scattered across town rather than pooled in one station, so check which one your ticket uses before you budget the taxi to your hotel.
The city is cut by deep ravines and built on a slope, so two points close on the map may not be close on foot. The Centro walks well; for everything else use the local minibuses (around MX$12), a taxi or an app. Driving, the real headache is parking downtown and the one-way grid — ask whether your hotel has its own space.
On safety, the plain version: stick to the toll road, avoid rural back roads after dark, leave nothing visible in the car and take a taxi home if you are out late. The blocks around the market feel rough at night, even though by day they are the best place in the city to eat.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The historic centre holds the sights: the Palacio de Cortés and its museum, the cathedral, the Jardín Borda, the Robert Brady house, the arcades on Jardín Juárez. Hotels here are small and plain, and this is where the cheap end of our scans lives. The trade-off is traffic, noise and a district that stops feeling inviting once the shops close.
South of the centre, Delicias and Acapantzingo are the Cuernavaca people picture: high walls, bougainvillea, family houses converted into hotels of a few rooms with a garden and a pool. You are fifteen to twenty minutes on foot from the zócalo — uphill coming back — or a short taxi. Much of that roughly US$98 median sits in these streets.
The north — Vista Hermosa, next to the Teopanzolco pyramid, plus Rancho Cortés, Lomas de Cortés, Buenavista and Reforma — offers hotels with more land: real gardens, proper pools, silence and a degree or two of extra coolness. It works if you have a car or do not mind taxiing everywhere, because there is nothing to walk to.
Avenida Domingo Diez and the Acapulco road out towards Jiutepec and the Civac industrial estate carry the functional business and roadside hotels. They exist for that: work trips, one night in transit, an early departure, proximity to the malls. Nobody stays there for atmosphere, and it is fairer to say so than to dress it up.
Eating and going out
Morelos eats cecina from Yecapixtla with cream, cheese and nopales, and that is the compulsory dish. Add tlacoyos, itacates, barbacoa tacos and, if you land on a Thursday, green pozole — Thursday pozole is an institution here. The municipal market in the centre is where all of it is best and cheapest, with a full plate running around MX$80-150.
The arcades on Jardín Juárez and the terraces nearby are for sitting out the late afternoon with coffee or an ice cream while a band plays in the bandstand. The food is decent and the bill is tourist-priced: reckon MX$200-350 a head. Delicias and Acapantzingo have garden restaurants where you eat better for much the same money.
Nightlife is modest and weekend-shaped. Midweek most places shut early; from Friday to Sunday the centre and a handful of northern bars come alive. If you stay out late, take a taxi or an app back — walking home past the market blocks or along dim avenues is not worth the fifty pesos you save.
Booking well
Cuernavaca is a small market: our 2026 scans found 19 hotels with a real price, and that shows on long weekends, when the good places go weeks in advance. For public holidays, Holy Week or December, book three or four weeks ahead. For a Tuesday night, you will usually still find something on the day itself.
It helps to know what each band buys. The US$47 end of our scans means simple rooms, often on a main avenue or in the centre, with no garden attached. The typical rate of around US$98 buys the walled house with a pool and old trees that is the actual point of the trip. That gap is experience, not square metres.
Check three things before paying. The address first: several Cuernavaca "haciendas" are really in Jiutepec, Temixco or Xochitepec, twenty to thirty minutes out. Then parking, which is scarce downtown. Then events — garden hotels rent themselves out for weddings, and the music can run until dawn. Ask in writing whether anything is booked on your dates.
Two last details. In December and January mornings are cool and not every pool is heated; if swimming is part of the plan, confirm it. And in the rainy season take a cancellable rate — one heavy afternoon storm can undo the day's plans, along with any enthusiasm for driving back to Mexico City.
