The restaurants on the resort are very good and there are a lot of options off-resort as well. The rooms were spacious and clean. The gym was bigger and better than I expected (but I would recommend they add another treadmill or two). The staff were so friendly and helpful - especially Jeremias! We had a great time at this resort. We are premier plus Hilton members and this was one of our best experiences from several years of travel. Miguel and Cesar the bell hops were amazing gentleman always willing to help. The overall customer service was outstanding. The cleaning staff did an amazing job every day as well. Beautiful resort! Everything was so clean, housekeeping was efficient, service was great. My sister got married at the resort and the ceremony location was gorgeous! Definitely plan on hitting a grocery store/market after arriving to Cabo because the restaurants at the resort are expensive. The resort was spacious, not too big and not too small. Plenty of space to get a front row seat at the pool if you get there first thing in the morning. Also, the kiddie pool.... perfect addition!!!

When to go
High season runs December to March: days of 24-27°C, cool nights, no rain at all, and whales offshore. It is also the coldest water of the year, around 20-22°C, and the moment prices climb hardest — Christmas, New Year and the March spring break are the clear peaks.
May and June are the calendar's best value: dry, around 30°C, thin crowds and rates that have not yet bitten. October works the same way from the other side, with genuinely warm water and cyclone risk falling — the month chosen by people who actually intend to swim.
July through September brings humid 35°C heat and heavy nights. It is the pit of hurricane season and the pit of the price curve too: serious discounts, with the asterisk that a storm can rearrange your dates. Refundable rates and travel insurance, no exceptions.
One thing few people mention: from November to March a north wind blows most afternoons and kicks sand along the hotel beach. It does not ruin a trip, but it explains the low walls and tiered pools at the resorts, and why dinner on a courtyard terrace downtown feels so much more sheltered.
Getting there and around
Landing and being at your hotel a quarter of an hour later is San José's strongest practical argument. Watch the arrivals hall, though: several desks offer 'transport' or 'information' and end in a timeshare presentation. Walk straight past them to the exit and find the transfer you already booked.
A rental car unlocks the real destination: the Corridor, Todos Santos an hour away, the East Cape down dirt roads. Budget on the order of US$40-70 a day at 2025 prices, plus the mandatory Mexican liability insurance the five-dollar online rates never include — that is where the bargain evaporates.
You can manage without one. The Ruta del Desierto bus links San José with Cabo San Lucas along the Corridor for roughly MX$50 in about an hour, stopping near several beaches. Ride-hailing apps work in Los Cabos, though airport pickup has long been contested; taxi-rank cabs quote in dollars and add up fast.
On foot: the historic centre is walkable end to end, and the hotel zone has a flat seafront path for early walks. Between the two lie 20-25 minutes of shadeless boulevard that feel like double at midday. Puerto Los Cabos is ten minutes by car, with no continuous pavement to do it walking.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The historic centre and its art district hold the character: old houses turned into small hotels around Plaza Mijares and along Obregón, Morelos and Comonfort, with dinner and galleries on foot. This is where the cheap end of our scan lives, from US$38 — few rooms per property, and street noise on Art Walk Thursdays.
The hotel zone along Paseo Malecón San José gathers the resorts and the all-inclusives, and it is where the typical rate of around US$215 we logged actually sits. You pay for pool, service and view, not for swimming in the sea. Travelling with kids, ask outright whether the pool is heated in winter.
East of town, Puerto Los Cabos and the village of La Playa add a marina, golf and new construction: quieter, more isolated, a taxi for everything. At the opposite end, Costa Azul and Playa Acapulquito are surfer ground, with small hotels facing the break and the Corridor beginning right there.
By profile: first visit without a car, the centre; family pool holiday, the hotel zone; golf and quiet, Puerto Los Cabos; daily snorkelling, sleep on the Corridor and pay more. Inland neighbourhoods such as San José Viejo carry local prices and no tourist street life at all — workable only with a car.
Eating and going out
San José is the kitchen of Los Cabos. Around Boulevard Mijares and Álvaro Obregón sit chef-driven restaurants with Valle de Guadalupe wine lists, and inland, in the farming valley, farm-table places you book weeks ahead. Dinner like that runs about US$40-70 a head: expensive for Mexico, fair for what arrives on the plate.
The other San José has breakfast at the municipal market, a set lunch for MX$120-180 in the neighbourhood loncherías, and fish tacos at MX$30-50. Beside the pangas at Puerto Los Cabos you get the day's catch and chocolate clams, genuinely local. The busy-stall rule holds here as everywhere else in the country.
Nights are short and gentle: Thursdays from November to June the Art Walk opens the galleries and fills the art district until around nine, after which a couple of downtown bars carry on. Clubs are half an hour away in Cabo San Lucas, and the taxi home at 2am is not cheap — budget it.
Two money notes: plenty of menus quote in dollars at a poor in-house exchange rate, so ask and pay in pesos where you can; and expected tipping runs 15-20%, sometimes already added as 'service'. Checking the bill before you sign is normal here and offends nobody.
Booking well
It is a small market: 38 hotels with a real price in our 2026 scans, from US$38 a night with a typical rate in the order of US$215. Small means inventory genuinely sells out. For December to March book two or three months ahead; for Christmas, New Year and Holy Week, four to six.
August and September do the opposite and throw up rates that look like another city's. Take a refundable rate, get the hotel's hurricane policy in writing, and consider insurance that covers weather cancellation. The discount is real and so is the risk; managed properly, it is not dramatic.
Fine print matters more here than in most Mexican destinations: many resorts add a daily resort charge the from-price never shows, all-inclusives quote per person rather than per room, and the occasional 'welcome breakfast' is a two-hour timeshare pitch. You can decline at the desk without explaining yourself.
Before you commit, check three concrete things: whether the room faces the sea or the boulevard, whether the airport transfer is included, and how far the nearest swimmable beach really is.
