There were some socks hanging on a hanger . They didn’t not clean the room . Hair in the shower . The water leaks on to the room itself from the shower. Pictures online are deceiving . I stayed here in march and it was just one night tried it again . Never again !!!!!
Booked this place in a hurry because of a lost flight and our new plans included taking a bus back for the last stretch of the trip. This is conveniently located close to the greyhound bus station. The place is clean, quiet, and has security. The staff was very professional and helpful.
Service at the restaurant is great. Waiters are very nice. Last time I went food was a little better than this time, but it still good. Rooms are clean, but the smell of the products they use are not very nice, it's kinda strong. You can hear EVERY noise coming from the bathroom or other rooms...*sigh*

When to go
The reliable months are October and November, then March and April: days of 24 to 30°C, dry air and cool evenings. That is when San Nicolás is walkable without suffering, and when it makes sense to plan anything outdoors, from a backyard grill to a night match at the Estadio Universitario.
May to September brings the real heat: 38 to 40°C regularly, asphalt everywhere, little shade and broad avenues with almost no trees. Air conditioning is non-negotiable and a pool earns its keep. September often adds heavy downpours and the tail end of Gulf storms, which means flooded underpasses and slow traffic.
Winter days are mild, but a norte can drop the temperature ten degrees in a few hours, leaving nights of 3 to 8°C with a cutting wind. Pack layers even if the forecast promises sun. The hotel calendar runs on business: weekdays fill up, while weekends, long holiday bridges and late December tend to go quiet.
Getting there and around
Monterrey's international airport lies in Apodaca, some 20 to 25 km from central San Nicolás. In normal traffic that is 25 minutes; at rush hour, 45. An authorised taxi or a ride-hailing app runs in the order of MX$300-450, and at that distance public transport costs more time than it saves.
By road the city hangs off the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo corridor and the Anillo Periférico, with Avenida Universidad and Avenida Manuel L. Barragán as the internal arteries. Arriving by intercity bus means Monterrey's terminal, from which Metro Line 2 runs north and drops you at stations like Universidad and Anáhuac, minutes from Ciudad Universitaria.
Driving is the practical option, with one obvious caveat: between 7 and 9 in the morning and 6 and 8 in the evening the avenues clog, and a ten-minute hop becomes thirty. Parking is generally plentiful and free once you leave the small municipal centre.
Without a car, ride-hailing apps work well and a short hop inside the city costs roughly MX$60-120. City buses cover a lot for very little, but they need the Feria card and some patience with routes. Walking works within a neighbourhood; between neighbourhoods the avenues are long, loud and shadeless.
Where to stay, zone by zone
The Avenida Universidad axis, beside Ciudad Universitaria and the Estadio Universitario, is the obvious base for anyone here for the UANL, for a match or for an academic conference. Hotels are functional, cheap food surrounds the campus, and Metro Line 2 takes you down into Monterrey without fighting the traffic.
Avenida Manuel L. Barragán and the corridors running towards Escobedo and Apodaca hold the business stock: chain hotels, breakfast included, secure parking and fast exits to the industrial parks and the airport. There is no street life or charm out there, only efficiency, which is exactly what a work trip needs.
The municipal centre, around the main square and the Palacio Municipal, and neighbourhoods such as Anáhuac feel more like ordinary Monterrey life: a market, taquerías, bakeries, daily bustle. Hotel options there are thin, so treat the area as somewhere to eat and wander rather than sleep.
Be honest about distance. If your trip is a leisure one, Barrio Antiguo, the Macroplaza and San Pedro are a good half hour away and every late return costs a taxi. In that case, sleep in Monterrey and come out here only for the specific errand.
Eating and going out
Norteño food is served here without ceremony: grilled beef, cabrito, machaca with eggs for breakfast, trompo tacos at night and flour tortillas with everything. A set lunch runs about MX$120-180, and a taco dinner with a drink lands around MX$150-250 in the sort of place locals actually use.
The university belt is the liveliest patch on weekdays: cafés, plain beer joints and family-run kitchens around Ciudad Universitaria, priced for students and tied to the academic calendar. During summer and year-end breaks that energy vanishes and many places shorten hours or close outright.
Match days at the Estadio Universitario change the mood of the whole municipality: grills on the pavement, closed streets and dense traffic for hours before and after kick-off. If you are not going to the football, head out early or plan to stay near your hotel.
For a proper night out — cocktail bars, live music, ambitious restaurants — Monterrey remains the answer: Barrio Antiguo, the Calzada del Valle area and San Pedro. Budget 30 to 40 minutes each way and the fare home.

Before paying, check three concrete things: the real driving distance to wherever you actually need to be, not the vague near Monterrey label; whether the air conditioning is controlled in the room; and whether parking is included or billed separately. Confirm too that the quoted rate carries VAT and the state lodging tax.
Pay in pesos when you can and favour flexible cancellation: in a city built on work schedules, plans move. And if the numbers do not convince you, price the same dates in Monterrey; sometimes the saving does not repay the time you will spend on the Periférico.
