Ciudad Satélite is the most comfortable base: restaurants, the Plaza Satélite mall, the Torres de Satélite in view, and streets you can actually walk by day. If you plan to commute into Mexico City by public transport, look near the Toreo and Cuatro Caminos metro station. The industrial colonias, Alce Blanco or San Andrés Atoto, only make sense if that is where your work is.
When are rooms cheapest here?
The opposite of a tourist town. Demand is corporate, so Monday to Thursday fills up and weekends soften. December and Holy Week are usually quiet for rooms. How do I get in and get around?
Mexico City's Benito Juárez airport is some 25-30 km away: 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on traffic, roughly MX$400-700 by app or authorised taxi. From AIFA, budget over an hour. Locally, Cuatro Caminos station (Line 2) is your door into the capital, and shared peseros along Ávila Camacho and Lomas Verdes cost around MX$10-14.
Is there anything to see if I have a spare day?
Not much, but what exists is genuine: the Torres de Satélite by Goeritz and Barragán on the Periférico median, Parque Naucalli for a walk or a run, and the Los Remedios sanctuary with the arches of its old aqueduct in the upper part of the municipality. Tlatilco, the pre-Hispanic site, lies under the modern city; its famous figurines are at the Museo Nacional de Antropología.
