Few beds means weekends and fairs sell out fast, so book early or sleep in Guadalajara and ride the light rail in.

Which area should I stay in?
The historic centre, between the Jardín Hidalgo, Andador Independencia and Calle Juárez. That is where the courtyard houses turned boutique hotels are, and everything is walkable. Ask for a room facing the inner patio on weekends, because the mariachi music from El Parián carries. The hotels near the long-distance bus terminal are purely functional, useful only for a dawn departure.

Our 2026 scans logged just three hotels with a published rate in Tlaquepaque: from US$71 a night, with a typical price of around US$89. With so few beds, demand moves prices sharply — weekends, the June ceramics fair and big conventions in Guadalajara all tighten things. Midweek stays and the summer rainy season give you the most room to negotiate.
How do I get there and get around?
Guadalajara airport (GDL) is about 20 km away, 25 to 40 minutes; the authorised taxi runs roughly MX$400-500 and ride apps usually cost less. The city's main long-distance bus terminal sits inside the municipality. Light rail Line 3 crosses Tlaquepaque and reaches central Guadalajara in about twenty minutes. The old town itself is entirely walkable.
Tlaquepaque or Tonalá for buying crafts?
They complement each other. Tlaquepaque is galleries, signed pieces and named workshops along pedestrian lanes: pricier, better curated, and far nicer for strolling and dinner. Tonalá, ten to fifteen minutes away, is production and volume, with big street markets on Thursdays and Sundays where you buy cheap and in bulk. Do Tonalá early, then come back to Tlaquepaque to sleep.
