About staying in Todos Santos
Todos Santos is a desert town that happens to face the Pacific, not a beach resort. Ten blocks of historic centre — the mission, the Teatro Márquez de León, the galleries along Topete and Legaspi — make an easy morning on foot. The beaches lie two to four kilometres out along sand roads, and on most of them you look rather than swim: heavy shorebreak, serious rip currents, no lifeguards. Lodging is scarce and pricey: our 2026 scans logged just 4 hotels with a live rate, from US$141 a night and a typical from-price of the order of US$306. Plenty of visitors end up in rental houses instead.

Which part of Todos Santos should I stay in?
The historic centre if you arrive without a car: dinner, galleries and the plaza are all walkable, though there is no beach at the door. La Cachora and Las Tunas put you by the sea on sand streets, with a car essentially compulsory. El Pescadero, 12 km south, suits surfers heading to Los Cerritos. Punta Lobos is a fishing beach, not a lodging zone.
When is it cheapest, and when does it spike?
Cheapest between August and October: humid heat, hurricane season and a lot of shuttered doors. Dearest from December to April, peaking at Christmas, New Year and Holy Week, when minimum stays appear too. May and June are the sensible middle. With only 4 hotels in our 2026 scans — from US$141, typical of the order of US$306 — expect wide swings.
How do I get there and get around?
Fly into Los Cabos (SJD) or La Paz (LAP); both are a bit over an hour away on Highway 19. Intercity coaches on the La Paz–Cabo San Lucas route stop here several times daily. The centre is walkable, but the beaches and the farm valley need wheels. Taxis are scarce, roughly MX$100–200 within town, and ride-hailing is unreliable.
Can you swim at the beaches?
Mostly no. La Cachora, La Poza and Punta Lobos have heavy shorebreak, strong rip currents and no lifeguards; they are for walking, watching and photographs. Playa Los Cerritos at El Pescadero is the reasonable exception and where the surf schools operate. Ask at your hotel about conditions on the day — they change fast on this coast.
